I didnt have a good feeling about this. Cowboys will come out swinging, and the Giants have no reason talking shit when they are not good enough to do so.. Dumb asses. Way to get another team going. smh..
who looked at this roster and thought "Hey, we can contend in 2018!" should be out of a job immediately. Frightening that the front office felt this way and that ownership felt this way. Self evaluation of your roster is more important than basically anything for an incoming front office, and the early returns are frightening.

for saying we wanted to put the ball in Prescott's hands.
It was more then that. Everyone was saying they had to stop Zeke first and so what do you think Dallas would do. This defense sucks defending the RPO and it will kick our ass this year, because most teams now utilize the concept.

It's not the front office, it's the ownership. They didn't want to deal with moving on with Eli, once you set that parameter anyone who wanted the job was going to play nodding dog.

I remember being called a pessimist by someone here after doing some honest analysis of the team.
That being said, I do not know that the Giants thought they were going to take a 3 win team that had too many holes to fill, and turn it into a contender in one off season. That may be what the fans expected but ownership wanted to see significant improvements.
is nothing downfield because Dallas can get pressure with just four or five. That means Eli is constantly looking at six and seven defenders, so he's constantly dumping the ball off to Barkley.
ready to match Dallas intensity level. You would have to say this team stinks until it proves otherwise.
I knew emotions would be running high given all the circumstances. We needed to match their intensity and we didnt. With that said, this game is far from over, but we need to start moving the ball and scoring some points! Eli doesnt even have a TD this year yet?!
because what made Eli good in that game and great in his career were the intermediate routes, besides the last play has anyone touched the ball besides Eli, OBJ, and BarkleyI thought they were going to free up other weapons???
Free safety, the defense has done a good job. The offense needs to start sustaining drives. Its hard to do when you cant run against a 7 or 6 man front.
Two years ago he was a candidate for defensive player of the year, and the sky seemed to be the limit for him. Since then he's just been average at best
have a weapon like Odell Beckham and you can't move the sticks????! It doesn't add up?? So let me understand this, if the Giants had Antonio Brown would this offense be better?? Would he be successful??smh..
want to keep their safeties back to protect against our weapons. We need to run the ball to get them to bring at least one extra defender down into the box.
can't be serious, Solder blocked down and double teamed and let a guy rush free.
Solder got paid like a great tackle and i can't blame the Giants for doing it because of the mess Reese created, but he's just a decent tackle. Not terrible but nothing special. He's paid to be special and with the shit around him needs to be special
graphic on the field showing the lOS to the first down in dark green is horrible. More shit no one asked for that adds nothing of value by the TV networks.
Getting outplayed in every aspect. This game looks like it'll be a rude awakening for anyone who thought this team might have enough talent to compete. I kind of thought that heading into the season but it just doesn't.
The young guys like Shepard and Engram aren't taking the next step forward yet and the new guys this group brought in aren't even making a difference at all. Not a positive one, at least.
inability to move paired with this offensive line is just a recipe for disaster no matter what we have at the skill positions. The only way Eli had more in the tank was if the line could have been rebuilt in one off-season, and that's simply not the case. Eli has something left, but not with a shit line in front of him.
Holy shit. We look absolutely awful on offense. As bad as we did last year week 1. How is it that no coach can figure out how to look at least passable against this team?
Dallas came out flying on adrenaline. The Giants should be able to grind them down if they can hold onto the ball and force some 3-and-outs.
The offense is still weak, but I seem them starting to find their footing. Don't give up. It's only 10-nothing. In today's NFL that's not a big lead, even against the Giants.
I am getting tired of hearing what a special player he COULD be, he doesnt look to pick up the blitz and always seems to come up short.
Time to show up on the field!

to this unstoppable O I kept reading about all Spring?
Reality ensued.
The offensive line is terrible pass blocking and even worse run blocking. Beckham and Barkley are wasted on this team - we'd be doing the same with Roger Lewis Jr and Orleans Darkwa in this game.
I can't get a good read on Eli yet. It just seems like there's nothing there.
The defense though, is awful. It's going to get destroyed by a team with an actual QB.
know this may seem alarmist, but at this rate I would be surprised if Lauletta doesn't play this year. Eli is being pounded. He's 37. How much can he take?
Yep. People can say no excuses for Eli this year with his weapons, but it's plain to see the OLine being as bad as can be isn't an excuse. It's our reality.
We dont see the whole field, but nobody can tell him Eli has
still not good enough to win games with. They cant handle blitzes and Eli wilts under the blitz. Its hamstrung Shurmurs play calling. The playmakers are inconsequential until they can properly run an offense.
Years draft...we won't win many games looking like this...offense or defense or specials.......but people can keep saying it's early.....-0-4 here we come
defense is just going to be worn down, as it was last year at the end of many games. They have been a lot more stout since Austin's TD. But they aren't getting any help from the offense.
Could certainly be replaced by a more useful player, no?
I would save the roster spot for something else. We would be better off not putting a punter back there. I would rather take our chances with a bounce. We will get lucky 50% of the time and that bounce backwards would gain us more yards than this knucklehead.

This has been the case for the past 3 seasons. Mara hires these loser OCs instead of sme good DC, who would do better than these genius Xs and Os dudes.
S to drive the length of the field by dink and dunk, but the Giants cant sustain drives! Oline not helping matters, missing blocks by all. WRs not getting separation and Barkley has no room to run.
It seems to me the Giants are having trouble with the turf. Wrong cleats? I dunno. Several of them seem to be slipping. Jenkins stumbled on the TD pass. Barkley seemed to slip on that run. Engram, etc...
I've supported the idea of rebuilding around Eli and getting Barkley the entire off-season without wavering...to this point.
The blocking has been bad, sure, but Eli is playing like a good damn rookie at the moment. He's checked down on virtually every throw even when given time. The play calling and personnel decisions have also been terrible, but you can't put this all on outside reasons (so far) tonight.
I honestly thought he had more in the tank, but it doesn't look promising. I hope I'm wrong and just over reacting, and I can tell myself to STFU by the end of the game.
RE: The fact that Barkley only had 3 rushes through almost 2 full quarters
S to drive the length of the field by dink and dunk, but the Giants cant sustain drives! Oline not helping matters, missing blocks by all. WRs not getting separation and Barkley has no room to run.
Absolutely and if Beckham beats you just PI him just like Jax.
RE: Marinelli is calling a great defensive game...
S to drive the length of the field by dink and dunk, but the Giants cant sustain drives! Oline not helping matters, missing blocks by all. WRs not getting separation and Barkley has no room to run.
That has been a huge issue, we are just not efficient enough to sustain drives for years
Is the damn problem. Establish the damn run to take pressure off of Eli and open up the passing game.
TC would've ran and ran and ran some more until we got it going. McAdoo, and apparently, Shurmer are on some new age philosophy
Funny we were told he stuck to the run no matter what with the Vikes. Hes allowed himself to get caught up in the emotion of the game now. This is why i dont like HCs to call the plays
How can you tell with this horrible offensive line?
yea exactly...the OL is a joke. are we watching the same game? we are getting pressured when they rush four...OL just never on same page., simple stunts destroy us.,...
This is pathetic... such bad pass blocking form.. all they have to do is sit back and wait for someone to rush into their gap.. they are leaving gaps wide open..
some where Big Mac is saying see you thought it was me. lmbo...what a joke this offense is?!?! And we have a borderline HOF Qb that is no longer a solution for this team. He cannot operate behind this Oline. So despite all of these weapons we still cant move the ball
Flowers and Omameh look like high-schoolers out there, but Eli needs to be able to find open receivers when a blitz is on and other than that is lack of mobility is killing us (although that's not something he can help at this point).
4 new OL. New coach. New offense. Only one constant
Second, yes, the O is bad, but that was to be expected. New coach, new patchwork line, new offense. I expect things to improve but it's predictable that the first 5-6 games would be rough.
Third, they need a turnover. Could get one. A defensive score would help too.
How can you run an offense with no protection. It already feels like a lost season in only the second game. Can't win games when can't control the LOS.
So hard watching this team. Last 5 + years we are 36 and 45.
playing us perfectly. They are all over us. Our O-line is much improved this week and our Offense just can't get anything going and I chalk that up to the Dallas D.
He can do nothing but fall down in the face of pressure.
Yes, the OL is not doing well. But imagine we had a mobile, elusive qb? They know they can tee off and Eli will shit his pants and get the deer in the headlights look.
and a few home run plays, because were not going to drive the length of this field consistently. Their D just knows how to play us and weve given them no reason to believe that they need to adjust!
Manifest: Giants have been missing for five and a half years
Flowers and Omameh look like high-schoolers out there, but Eli needs to be able to find open receivers when a blitz is on and other than that is lack of mobility is killing us (although that's not something he can help at this point).
I dont think i remember what a clean pocket looks like when we are on offense
The OL sucks but there has to be 1 time that he can step up and make something happen.
I think this offense is demoralized, I remember a time when there was a belief that somehow Manning would find a way......
They are blitzing and he can't take advantage even 1 time?
What happened to you live by the blitz and die by the blitz
It's really no different at all from McAdoo. Not only is it the same problems it's the same kind of playcalling and clock management as well. I might even argue it is worse as unbelievable as that may be.
It is his fault that he is terrible at manuevering in the pocket away from pressure
This is why its time to move on from Eli. There are 5-7 drop backs every game where a QB is going to have to buy themselves extra time on their own. Eli cant. Hes a sitting duck.
OL isn't even close to being good enough, especially with an aging, immobile, QB like Eli. That's on DG. They are being completely controlled by the Dallas DL, and are still have trouble with simple stunts and blitzes. They are also getting pressure with just four or five, which is why Eli is throwing all those check downs. The end result is that it takes us 10 plays just to get to midfield. Barkley also has no blocking.
How is this not the same as the last several years?
Lets be fair Eli isnt calling the right protections at the LOS and hes checking the ball down before the pressure is there. Maybe hes traumatized from years past? Happy feet much Eli? Hes just not the guy everyone Sports analysts plus non giants fans always talk about Eli like he sucks. We should have drafted a mobile QB. Eli looks like a geriatric old woman.
it is obvious he is done. Should have drafted a QB. Has he hit Barkley in stride ONCE tonight????? Even when he has time he cannot hit anyone down field.
in the pocket because our RG cant pickup stunt and our FB blocks his guy right into him, its his fault?
I'll say yes. 75% of QBs in the NFL can move away from pressure and still look down field. Eli gets paid more than 75% of NFL QBs. It's a bad correlation
He can do nothing but fall down in the face of pressure.
Yes, the OL is not doing well. But imagine we had a mobile, elusive qb? They know they can tee off and Eli will shit his pants and get the deer in the headlights look.
We need a new qb.
So knowing that why not add real O lineman and at least go max protection?
It's really no different at all from McAdoo. Not only is it the same problems it's the same kind of playcalling and clock management as well. I might even argue it is worse as unbelievable as that may be.
Actually, Shurmur has better hair. So at least that's different.
RE: RE: RE: I know it's not all on him but I hope Jerry Reese finds himself
The last five years have been built around Eli. Im getting tired of all the excuses for a guy who simply cant be a difference maker and playmaker anymore.

I'll say yes. 75% of QBs in the NFL can move away from pressure and still look down field. Eli gets paid more than 75% of NFL QBs. It's a bad correlation
So its a QB job to avoid unblocked defenders that get through in less than 2 seconds?
Im pretty annoyed right now with our boys in blue, but some of you guys are really unbelievable. Lets see how the 2nd half goes before we blow the whole thing up. Maybe?
watch the all 22 film from last week on Gamepass. His first look is now at the rush. It's understandable given the shit show upfront that he's suffered with, but by the time he looks away he's missed receivers.
Once a QB's eye level goes down that it, it's done.

No. When you blitz like that you throw to the hot read, Eli is doing that over and over. Hell Barkley has like 8 catches. The issue is thats all they can do Eventually you need to get the QB time so he can get down the field to the WR's, who are likely open. So far we haven't. So Eli and Barkley (and Engram) are doing what they have to during a blitz when the OL is failing.
Beg to differ. He banged at least one into the EZ and on another, he easily could e had it inside the 10 and it was fair caught at the 18. And another was only 42 yards when we needed it as deep as possible. Just one good one to Beasley downed at the 5. Dixon not doing much well tonight.
in pro football. Cant run block, cant pass block. This isnt on Eli. Thats not to say Eli isnt a part of the problem, but the offensive line is where the problem lies, obviously.
in the pocket because our RG cant pickup stunt and our FB blocks his guy right into him, its his fault?

Just wow at this point.
youre all out of your minds if you think other QBS get away from this pressure. outside of maybe one time, the shit is relentless and on him before he can get to his second read....its horrible
The really scary thing is during this 6 year stretch of shit, the league has basically become 3 good teams 3 shit teams and the rest 8-8. fuckin everyone treads around .500, and we are done by columbus day every year. so fuckin sick of it.
It is his fault that he is terrible at manuevering in the pocket away from pressure

While that is true other QBs will often have some where to step up into, Eli never has that, the interior line is always getting pushed back into his face and he doesnt have the ability to get outside.

It wont get any better next week against another pissed off
Texans team that wants to take it out on the Giants at home too! We could be staring at an 0-3 start before we even have a chance at home, but then were looking at a Saints team that can ruin youre afternoon on D.

not at all mick. its a jailbreak...that SIMPLE stunt could be picked up by a high school team.
Whoever thought Flowers would work at RT and signed Omameh has some explaining to do.
I get you cant fix everything in 1 offseason but holy shit
There are a lot of Non-NFL players starting on our team.
The same person who thinks Eli is a Elite or Good QB which he isnt. The past 3 season hes been ranked 24th best starting QB 2 times and 25th ladt year. Bottom line I know the line aint great but he never does anything when he has time either. If we start 0-3 again we dont have a better answer but Im trying anybody else were going nowhere with Eli.
RE: The Giants used the 2nd pick on a running back so they could
OL gives a pocket, eli will find players if they can work open downfield. you guys see KC today? mahomes had a clean pocket literally all day....
eli is rushed EVERY play. seriously, simple stunts, corner blitzes, it all works against us
Seriously. The right side is getting beat with simple shit they should be able to adjust to and not get beat. It's like there's a collective IQ of 75 over there.
Beg to differ. He banged at least one into the EZ and on another, he easily could e had it inside the 10 and it was fair caught at the 18. And another was only 42 yards when we needed it as deep as possible. Just one good one to Beasley downed at the 5. Dixon not doing much well tonight.
The 2 that I saw was inside the 10. And, I missed the 1 at the 5.
RE: RE: The Giants used the 2nd pick on a running back so they could
immobility compounds the poor OL. That should be obvious to even a casual football fan. At least a mobile QB would be able to extend some of these plays. Eli is being sacked in the pocket every time, and for major losses. As I said, I think Lauletta might play sometime this year.
Eli is shellshocked. He was promised a better OL, but it didn't happen. DG thought the pieces he added to the OL would be enough to protect Eli, especially with the threat of a stud RB. It appears that he may have been wrong.
....still do, but dammmit if Eli is makeing that a tough sell. Kid is makeing one person miss every time he touches the ball....3 carries, REALLY 3. RUN THE DAMN BALL
show of ineptitude so far. Terrible blocking. The same blitz is beating us over and over. And Eli looks in panic mode back there. Meanwhile our weapons in SB, OBJ, EE, and Shep get the dump off thrown 10 yards behind the sticks (and where they can't get it in stride) to be tackled after minimal YAC. 11 plays for 23 yards...JFC
On D we get beat deep by a team with "no WR threat" on the first series, fail -- AGAIN!!! -- to stop the QB designed option run, and have give up the insurmountable 10 point lead at half (insurmountable for our O, not a competent O).
The composition of this team is so off. You have a statue at QB. You have to have a pass blocking wall in front of him. Yet we have failed to build it. Omameh and Halapio look like "just a guy" players, and Flowers is himself.

Cant believe we passed on a QB with the #2 pick. Will go down in history as one of the biggest blunders in franchise history.
Darnold looked like an average QB today, and Mayfield has yet to play. None of these QBs would help us win today. The best choice was re-signing Geno so we would have a backup option this season in case Eli stinks it up.
He can improvise and move in the pocket. If Eli gets a HINT of pressure, he's like a deer in the headlights.
Yup, and that is what is required in todays NFL. How can ownership and front office justify this offseason to the fan base. A win now team that looks like a bottom 5 NFl team.
Also, for those hoping for a qb in 2019, there isnt a high end talent in this draft. Which is why the made an monumental error last year.
At this rate the defense is going to get very tired
tonight they're not getting beat physically, they're being out-schemed. Guys don't know their assignments and there's usually an extra rusher that's not being picked up. Correctable but shitty job by the coaching staff.
is no question that Eli is hearing footsteps, even on the few plays where he has time to throw. But the bigger problem is the OL. The are being beaten by speed, and seem confused by simple stunts. DG's #1 priority was to fix the OL. He didn't.
3 very talented players offensively but a QB who plays scared because of the shit line in front of him. Even when he has time he acts as if he doesn't because of the beating he has taken for years. He clearly has zero trust in the line in front of him and that's a recipe for disaster, no matter how good the skill position players are.
The front office was in win now mode in the off-season which will never make any sense to me. Unless they get lucky in the next couple off-seasons it's going to be a decision that costs a lot of people jobs.
Eli has something left physically but mentally he is shot behind this line. Hard to blame him the way they've played for so long

I don't care if you can run around like a squirrel, no qb is going to get anything done when the freaking pass rushers are on top of you at the same time you are getting the snap in the shotgun. This is ridiculous.

Minus a shit play by Jenkins in the first drive, the defense has given up 6 points despite a TO in the red zone, I don't think they're our problem tonight.

Holy shit with this offense. Sooner or later some in the organization need to realize that Eli is a big part of the problem. He is inaccurate and gun shy.

He should have put more draft capital into the oline.
Does Getts get a pass for only having pass rusher in a pass happy league? Hell its ok we have good run stuffers but whi the hayl runs the ball that much outside of Dallas and Jax?

Disagree. I think Justin Herbert could be a better prospect than any of the QBs last year. Just my opinion.
RE: RE: RE: It doesnt matter if its Elis fault or Oline
Either way this team is going no where and was a huge mistake passing on a QB.
Because the only time they had a chance to take a QB was in 2018...
They had a perfect chance to.
Says who? The Jets?
Lol. Keep watching. Not looking so great. QB is old and getting killed. What exactly is the plan? Eli? Yeah, looking great there. But hey, lets put down the Jets. You should see what we got going.
the OL was legitimately a two year project, but they had to show some improvement in year one. The Giants have a ton of weapons they can't use. They are like a Ferrari with no gas.
is responsible as QB for calling the right protections. Hes supposed to be the savvy veteran QB who can help his OL a little.
So far Ive seen four plays tonight where Eli should have changed the play call or updated the line call and he failed. Two of these resulted in immediate sacks.

Herbert runs a hurry up and won't be able to win in the NFL for 2-3 years, same as any other rookie.

Maybe on the slot blitzes and t/e stunts but it's not on the coaches when Hernandez completely whiffs on his guy causing a strip sack.
so easily? Eli is not going to help this Oline at all
What do you want to do next...what is next play guys?
Have we attempted a thrown downfield? How about a screen to slow down the rush? How about a few quick outs to OBJ on the sideline? How about a mismatch of Engram on a LB? What about splitting SB out wide?
Think about it. The only times the Giants have had success against this team, has been when Odell has basically took over the game. Taking a slant to the house or making ridiculous catches

The big miss is taking Engram over Ramzyc or Robinson.

Hes winning the mental battle against Shurmur and Eli. Neither are up to the task. Eli is every bit as responsible for this terrible offense. This isnt just the OL play.
Barkley has an insane amount of talent. His ability to make people miss is unreal, especially when combined with how easily he breaks tackles.
Amazing talent and looks like Barry Sanders with those moves. Unfortunately Barry didnt win anything either and had to consistently create a lot on his own.
barkley is fun to watch. never goes down on first contact...pretty awesome stuff...
hoping the O can get a drive going and get some points...could go a long way
The guy is done. I was a get a QB guy but really bought into Barkley, but Eli is absolutely cooked. I hope Lauletta has something but Eli is a big fat zero now.
Well, as least we didn't hurt Eli's feelings by drafting
Either way this team is going no where and was a huge mistake passing on a QB.
Because the only time they had a chance to take a QB was in 2018...
They had a perfect chance to.
Says who? The Jets?
Lol. Keep watching. Not looking so great. QB is old and getting killed. What exactly is the plan? Eli? Yeah, looking great there. But hey, lets put down the Jets. You should see what we got going.
No, the point is that if you're going to take a QB, you better be damn sure you're in love with him. Giants weren't. I wasn't. Many others weren't. You don't take a QB at #2 overall if you aren't utterly convinced he's going to be a franchise QB.
Barkley has an insane amount of talent. His ability to make people miss is unreal, especially when combined with how easily he breaks tackles.
Amazing talent and looks like Barry Sanders with those moves. Unfortunately Barry didnt win anything either and had to consistently create a lot on his own.

Time? .9 seconds isn't time, junior.
While I was banned, I read some of your posts. And they're awful.
but being a good play caller as a OC is a completely different kettle of fish to doing as a HC.
We did interesting stuff last week but the execution was lacking. We've done nothing today that McAdoo wouldn't have done except for a couple of bunch receiver sets.
Disagree. I think Justin Herbert could be a better prospect than any of the QBs last year. Just my opinion.
Herbert runs a hurry up and won't be able to win in the NFL for 2-3 years, same as any other rookie.
I guess I'm of an old school mindset, but I'm not crazy about starting a rookie QB
Think about it. The only times the Giants have had success against this team, has been when Odell has basically took over the game. Taking a slant to the house or making ridiculous catches
Hes winning the mental battle against Shurmur and Eli. Neither are up to the task. Eli is every bit as responsible for this terrible offense. This isnt just the OL play.
exactly. People want to talk about guys missing assignments but i havent seen Eli identify a blitz yet either
is responsible as QB for calling the right protections. Hes supposed to be the savvy veteran QB who can help his OL a little.
So far Ive seen four plays tonight where Eli should have changed the play call or updated the line call and he failed. Two of these resulted in immediate sacks.
Pretty ridiculous that you think you know what is going on with Eli and the O-line calls, this line is fucking up even the simple shit.
worldly RB it would take some of the sting out of not drafting a QB. But so far, he looks good but not great, unable to get the tough yards without good blocking up front.
Their offense was able to put some points on the board. Some people on this thread don't watch other teams' games?
Blaine Gabbert led the Titans to a 20-17 victory today - with both starting tackles and starting TE out due to injury.
Blame the OL all you want, we all know where the problem is.
You didn't watch any of those games. Led them to 20 points? He barely passed the ball. The Bengals have a better line all around than NYG. The Jets faced the almighty Dolphins and scored 12 points. What's your point?

Herbert is a hurry up spread offense qb. See Marcus Mariota, his game may not translate to the NFL.
Totally changed their offensive game plan in the 2nd half. Quick tosses and a hurry up offense. Now I know Aaron Rogers is Aaron Rogers, but he was playing on one leg. The coaches change but its the same shit. nothing changes.
tonight they're not getting beat physically, they're being out-schemed. Guys don't know their assignments and there's usually an extra rusher that's not being picked up. Correctable but shitty job by the coaching staff.
QB can't beat the blitz. That's not outscheming.
it is Elis job to call the protection and hes not seeing the blitz
worldly RB it would take some of the sting out of not drafting a QB. But so far, he looks good but not great, unable to get the tough yards without good blocking up front.
We need a great OL for Barkley, like Elliot looking dominant with a great OL

You want to be sure when you pass on a guy too. Dont underestimate the risks for not having a quality QB. Right now its questionable if we have one.
Outside of the first two drives where we were clearly still in the locker room this is a 0-3 game right now. Not sure what most here were expecting from this team this year. Strength of schedule is brutal, especially through the first 8.

It's a definite concern and something to look into, but I think Herbert has the arm talent to translate well into the NFL. But yes, QBs coming out of the spread don't usually fare well in the NFL.

Is that supposed to be funny? You're another one of these posters who have appeared while I was away that mashes absolutely no Fucking sense. Let me guess. You're like 24.
The guy is getting carted off in an air cast and your bitch ass has something smart ass say.

My point I guess went over your head? I watched several games so far this year - can't recall a more anemic offensive performance. Zero points?
Didn't Eli used to make his bones throwing end zone fades?

Do less. Your posts are awful.
Your pathetic ass is back? Didnt even notice you were gone...
But this is not all on the O-line. There are other teams that have shit O-lines. They still manage to look like NFL teams. He's absolutely done. Get a QB in the first round next year.
He was open for about half a second when he cut inside. It's a risky throw, but Mahomes made the exact same throw earlier today. To be fair to Eli he'd already pulled it down by that point.
But this is not all on the O-line. There are other teams that have shit O-lines. They still manage to look like NFL teams. He's absolutely done. Get a QB in the first round next year.
You might be right, but I have to say, from my couch I watched the whole Jet game, the bonus coverage of the KC game and the Jags win.
No QB seems to be under siege in this way. Also, no team has more runs blown up for losses.

Haha.
You're a terrible poster and I'll continue to call out your horseshit. It's easy.
LOL. Please NcAdoo. We will take back all our criticism. We could not have dreamt that our offense would get even worse. Six net points last week, and 0 net points this week.
I can't believe a single person in management thought this team was going to get better enough to not get a 37-year-old QB beat like a bag.
This is what virtually everyone who wanted a QB in the draft was afraid of. It wasn't hard to guess Manning would return, but hard to think anyone thought it was a good idea.

Eli isn't the problem, exactly. But it doesn't look like he's the solution, either. He can still make the throws. He can still read defenses. But he can't help compensate for the Giants' perennial line problems. If you're going to have perennial line problems, you need a QB who can make someone miss.

I've been saying for awhile now that this offensive line is the NFL's worst. It still is.

Whats even more pathetic was the explanation DG used, one quarter of one game game against a defense that had already packed it in for the game. Very difficult to understand.
But its over in NY for Eli. And the ONLY way he has any shot, is if he went to a team with a stellar OL. We dont have time left on his contract to build one around him, and we have our super star skill players on limited time contracts as well. Time to move on to the young kids. I will be happy to eat my words if he turns it around and makes us competitive again, but Im more than happy to roll the dice on the young guns and move on. Cant be worse than the last 6 seasons, Im used to it.

+1. For some reason, people thought adding mediocre OLs was going to take a lousy OL blocking for an immobile QB and produce good results. They needed a reboot that was going to take longer than Eli would last.
Can Eli fucking snap the ball before the clock runs out?
Roll the freaking pocket to get away from pressure......try something different. Theyre just going to bring the kitchen sink again and we cant block it

they were doing a lot of that last week... but strangely, hardly any tonight.
Fuck this. Guy is scared shitless out there. How many more weeks before youre finally heated up there Eli? How many... guy cant one guy miss and is fucking gun shy. Yes the ol sucks. So does Eli, at least right now. Its right there for all to see.
Barkley is the only guy that showed up to play tonight.....
But Eli needs to sense pressure and step outside of the pocket and make a downfield throw. With an offense loaded with this many weapons, he is not the answer.

I agree they want it more. But why do you say they need it more?
The loss to CAR in the conference is more costly than a loss to JAX.
Also, everybody knows the Giants...have room for improvement, but Dallas needs to prove they are playoff quality.
Season was over the third play of the 2nd fucking game
Knows hes old and slow and he cant do anything about it. Hes bailing too early and missing plays down the field.
But he's been like this for pretty much his entire career. He's very mechanical. If he needs to improvise, he's lost. The ironic thing is the most famous improvised play in NFL history was started by Eli (the Tyree SB catch).
looks like DG, Shurmur, the Maras, and the entire FO grossly overestimated how much they could fix the OL in one year.
Bizarrely so. It was a poor free agency class (it always is for oline), and we put one draft pick into it despite their being a lot of decent interior lineman in the 3rd.

Hes physically and as far as a playbook is concerned a diminished QB. His mental processes are being rushed and he knows he cant make the same throws he used to. The offense has become limited.
The next time I hear anyone praise Engram Im body tackling him. Until proven otherwise Engram is a mediocre player. Cant block. Doesnt break tackles. Ok hands and thats being friendly. Hes fast. Wooooopdy damn do. Wed be 1-0 and scoring points tonight if we drafted ramczyk. But we needed Evan Engram. Needed him like bulls need tits. Fucking worthless. I hate Evan Engram. Hate him.

Bingo.
But come draftcb tI'll me...everyone..draft bpa!!!
All QBs think they are better than they are as they get. This is on the management and ownership who backed down after all the warning signs from the past few years. This is exactly how teams fall into long rebuilds. My father talked at length about the Giants of the 1970s. They are getting their ass kicked by a half-ass team. Too bad this management wasted next years 3rd round draft choice already.

Jerry Reese always reached for OL when he shouldn't and didn't take them when he should.
It's both frustrating and good at the same time. If Jenkins doesn't stumble combined with a terrible play by Riley on the first drive, this is a baseball score. Yet, it feels like they have been abused all night. No pressure, no big stops, no turnovers.

can't watch it anymore.it's a joke the complete offense is a joke.barkley showed some nice moves, that's all.Maybe it only takes some time with the new coach, but my hope is gone.
Too you til now to realize the game was over? Lol.
Just busting balls, Acid. But seriously we never stood a chance and it was obvious from the first offensive possession.
Agreed. You can't bust my balls. This game already did so, along with the realization that just about everything we did in the offseason to prevent a repeat of last year was wrong.
An Eli supporter, you have to be semi athletic to play the game now. He is not. Yes the OL is bad (and its a combination) but without a great great line, Eli cant play anymore.

I don't understand how a professional athlete is that immobile.
Interesting watching which fans love to hate their team
What are you going on about? What about tonight's shitshow do you think is being blown out of proportion here? This team has basically stunk since hurricane Sandy, barring one season, and that includes Eli's play across different OLs.
If giants had drafted darnold we would be begging for him to start next week and he would deserve to start. I get this isnt all Eli its the line as well. But its enough already I cant watch this for any longer he hasnt been good for 5 years. I am not even sure with an all pro at each offensive line position that Eli would be able to lead this team. This cowboys team is really bad, I dont. Even think they will win 6 games this year so that leaves my 4-12 giants prediction looking accurate. The defensive is fine, but no playmakers. The defense is good enough to win a championship but you would need a really good offense and this is not it.
so the stats don't look as bad and we can keep kicking this can down the road for another damn year. I'm sick of this! six years in a row of this BS is frustrating.

It's what it is. Not a big deal
It's not a big deal that the team has sucked for years, or that they just blew a game to a team that's likely to be .500 at Best in a completely uncompetitive manner?
By all means, share what you find so funny about this...
after trying to get behind what this new regime had done and still finding ourselves here.
These games, in the division especially are not competitive. Every single time we had momentum (which wasnt often) there was inevitably a sack, penalty, or negative play.
Where are Shepard and Engram? Why cant this team pick up a basic stunt? How many times will this defense fall for the option QB keeper?
We can debate how much blame you want to place on Eli, but unfortunately if these are the results were still yielding, then it doesnt really matter.
Shurmur has been underwhelming so far. They really better turn this around fast, but its hard to see how after tonight.
That we claim to know that football is a marathon yet we're ready to give up during the second game of the season. Perhaps expectations we're out of wack
But he does not seem to have the ability to change the narrative anymore....There are a lot of crap offensive lines in the NFL........This can't be all on them.
can't do much worse. I want to watch a QB that has a little fire in his belly. Eli left his in 2011
Im 100000% on board with this. NOW is the time when benching Eli would have been acceptable. Im a massive Eli supporter, and right now Id be fine if they straight up cut him tomorrow. Hes clearly not going to get us to the next level EVER again. Lets just throw Lauletta to the wolves. Sink or swim. Doesnt matter. If he lays welll then goood on him and good for the team. If he sinks, it wont matter because we are picking top 3 and can take a shot on the next QB.
Manning has plausible deniability -- maybe on a less awful team he wouldn't be awful.
But it is in fact an awful team and two undeniable truths 1) Manning is getting his skull kicked in and 2) the offense is incapable of anything.
Go ahead and take the satisfaction it isn't Manning's fault if that makes you feel better. But how in the world is him kicking beaten like a drum at 37 good for this team's future?

If we havent won a few games before the bye, you will probably see some Lauretta after the bye

Hey Ben. This is John Mara. Just want to say....god damn it, Eli!....umm, excuse me...sorry about last year and how things went down. Tell everyone I said hello.
As it's not that big of a deal. They sucked last year, so they suck this year so far. Maybe they turn it around
I guess it's not that big a deal. I mean, if you don't mind watching a team that's not in any way competitive, sure. If you don't mind watching them come out week after week to get embarrassed, why not?
Otherwise - one might be somewhat concerned that a team that has struggled in the same manner for years continues to struggle the same way, and that deliberate changes that were made that they'll be forced to stick with (Solder, Omameh, Hernandez) for more than this season look like they're every bit as bad as what they had before.
Someone might even wonder why, in a draft that was rated as one of the best QB drafts in years, drafting with the 2nd pick overall, they'd pass on a QB to replace their 37 year old signal caller, who even without confirmation of him being part of the problem will retire at some point in the not too distant future.
So yeah, if you're into watching a team that sucks, and will presumably suck for the next couple of years at least, you've struck gold.
Eli realized he could not trust his O-line and became shell-shocked, scared, off his game - out of confidence. Sadly there is no way he will get it back this year after a game like this - early in the season.
If they had 5-6 solid games and then a game like this maybe he could have shaken it off but, .... it is going to be a long season.
recovered the onside kick. If we only needed one score that might mean something. But the offense couldn't done anything all night. This just prolongs the inevitable.
More to being QB than having the arm to run. Hes not confident in the pocket. Not trusting his arm. He missed TDs against Jacksonville. And Barkley in the endzone tonight.
There are new coaches, new OL, and an entire new offense. Yet the same results?? One constant. We cant keep ignoring it

To get the shot of the look of terror on Eli's face as they pulled him off the ground after that second sneak for a first down earlier in the game. And put that picture up here. Total stark terror! That's what we will see in our QB as long as Eli continues to start and mimic playing the position.
Do I blame him? Not at his age. And there's the money, of course. He's been great. Not anymore. It's all over, like it or not.

This. After I saw his face I knew this game was in the books
RE: 20-13 looks about 1 trillion times better than this game was
And that includes the coach. Same strange playcalling, same poor clock management, same questionable in game decisions. Those 3 aren't the fault of the roster, or QB. That's the coach, and I don't see much difference between him and McAdoo.
Fucker will be in the slot all night.
Bar none.
Bar none.
But our defense is clearly worse.
against us though....3rd play
I dunno, I believed it no problem.
And then Riley way out of position with no chance, especially on a terrible angle.
More talent is the answer.
That wasnt Collins...
That was Riley not Collins
Riley not Collins
You mean Riley
It's a 7 pt lead a minute into the game lol. They're not down 20 at halftime
I love this site, but I really don't know why I read game threads lol
This. And we all new Dallas was going to take a shot early.
I'm not really impressed with Bettcher so far.
Shouldnt be playing. On a good team he wouldnt be.
I'm not really impressed with Bettcher so far.
Really? the defense played pretty well last week. This one play was a mistake by two players. What is Betcher supposed to do? put a helmet on?
Have you ever written a post that didn't include "smh", you fucking drooling cretin?
It wasnt Collins, are you even watching? Or reading?
Yes. Generous
Agree
Now a punt
Weak.
Gettelman deciding that this was a win now team before the draft still puzzles me
How has that troll not been banned yet?
Lets go defense! Maybe Collins can make a play.
Not with that ol even with god barkley
He's actually not under that much pressure thus far, he's just got Carr syndrome.
Cant go for it at midfield. Theyre already up 7
Weak.
When other teams go for it on 4th and inches, their QB keeps it and they have an OL that can push the pile a bit. We have neither.
The offense looks the same as it always does. Doesnt matter who the coach is. The one constant is the crappy OL.

This, we played this offseason like we werent too far off. I just dont see it

Blocking sucked and gave Barkley little chance of making it.
Especially when there were two fantastic punters drafted in the 5th this year.
Gettelman deciding that this was a win now team before the draft still puzzles me
If this group doesnt work out, that is going to be the original sin
Yeah pinning them deep worked out great..
Its not even balls, its the right call. In this nfl you rather go a few inches on offense then gain 35 yards on defense at midfield.
Riley has been dreadful.
He sucks who cares
What did the defense practice this week?
Challenge accepted. FML.
Yup. Personally responsible for two huge runs on this drive alone.
They do because they played jax tough
Just embarrassing.

Bullshit. Eli had enough time and delivered a shit throw that should have been dropped.
20m a year, he needs to make that fucking throw on a consistent basis.
On pace for 40..
its like uh ref, they dont need MORE help.
big drive coming here.
Talk is cheap!!!
Or this will be over before it even started
Yep.
Pick 6
It was more then that. Everyone was saying they had to stop Zeke first and so what do you think Dallas would do. This defense sucks defending the RPO and it will kick our ass this year, because most teams now utilize the concept.
dallas isnt a BAD team. offensively ya they have struggled, but they still have a strong OL and zeke.
those thinking we would win going away was wishful thinking. we arent a great team but we will be in this game.
start of last week looked bad too

The one that was caught? LOL. Here we go. Team is all shit - and we are blaming Eli for a completed pass.... haha
That may be what the fans expected but ownership wanted to see significant improvements.
i dont get a lot of the moves made by this staff at cut down time
Shurmer will be 10-25 as HC after tonight. In the proud tradition of McAdoo.
Everyone is keying on Barkley, and the blocking for him has been poor.
Did you see the D lineman jump up while he was throwing?
Nice punt.
Nice punt Dixon.
Everyone is keying on Barkley, and the blocking for him has been poor.
That implies there's any blocking at all. He's getting crushed.
but this heart attack defense will have to wake up.
He's murdering us along with the rest of the OL, it's just death of a 1000 cuts instead of kill shots.
I'd rather that than an INT throwing into coverage.
Yeah, it sucks that we're not yet a team you can realistically have high hopes for.
I knew emotions would be running high given all the circumstances. We needed to match their intensity and we didnt. With that said, this game is far from over, but we need to start moving the ball and scoring some points! Eli doesnt even have a TD this year yet?!
Maybe they've gotten comfortable with the concept of losing
They've been punched in the mouth and crawling on the canvas
Exactly.
its the QB
How about it we cant run for shit - again?
Hes calling a conservative game. I thought he was supposed to be an aggressive play caller?
Have to get the TE involved.
We're losing this game in the trenches. Again.
How about it we cant run for shit - again?
Newsflash our one sucks and will continue to suck, so just STFU about it.
On the other hand, it appears the Cowboys have spotted something in the Giants scheme and are exploiting it for those QB runs.
LMAO
We're losing this game in the trenches. Again.
This, exactly right

That something is called "lack of talent".
yes, def not the QB. all the coaches just call the same plays! stupid coaches.
Yup. They must have lost a camera.
Nice play by Apple.
One more reason why Im ready to go to bed.
They seem to go out of there way to make football suck more.
Or a bigger head.
Did anyone actually hear what Collins said? Or are you just media puppets? He didnt even talk shit
Impossible to follow what's happening - stop it
And while you're at it, stfu
Looks like theyre trying to maintain their rush lanes to keep him in the pocket, but hes clearly been better throwing tOnight in the pocket
Look a bit better than last week however.

Literally 8 players within 5 yards of the los and we still run the draw.

Those that listened know. Then there is the echo chamber

But nice catch.

Agreed. If he throws it any lower it gets knocked down at the line. He put it where it needed to be in order to be caught.

Common Sense
Seriously. Is that bothering everyone else? Driving me fucking nuts.
Giants should have kept Josh Johnson and started him.
Sneaky bastards
Go fuck yourselves
Another third and long.
Go fuck yourselves
Seriously. I think I'm done with BBI for the day. This is ridiculous. People ready to give up after a quarter.
STFU troll. Youre a piece of shit and everyone hates you
Jail break
Solder blocked a guy already engaged and missed the blitz.
Great pick up DG!!!!!!
That second down run to Stewart was puzzling.
It's not
Team sucks so far
just bad

quarter? try 2 seasons! same shit different game.
Solder got paid like a great tackle and i can't blame the Giants for doing it because of the mess Reese created, but he's just a decent tackle. Not terrible but nothing special. He's paid to be special and with the shit around him needs to be special
Cmon Giants.
INSANE
Evidently not on 2nd down either
Ya think???
Need a sustained drive here.
My thoughts too?! He wasnt outside they tackle box?!
Nice stop by the D.
That bounce was very lucky.
And then Gettleman's return man almost shits the bed again.
I dont understand what intentional grounding is, if that wasnt intentional grounding.
He was between the tackles
Adds excitement.
It doesn't matter...
Once Eli sees a rush like that, he is no longer looking downfield.
I need to double up my blood pressure pills as long as hes on the team
It did look like grounding.
Quote:

Yes
Bettcher is not impressing me so far.
yes because sharp could put on a clinic on how to properly secure the football

The ball got back to the LoS and there was a receiver in New Mexico.

Take your BS to BBH where it belongs.
Papa and Banks have been saying the coverage downfield is excellent.
Looked like a tall order for the QB given the pressure.
DG thought he was better than Sharp: muff and almost fumble.
Quote:
that Eli did. Eli takes a fifteen years loss, Prescott throws it out of bounds.
And then Gettleman's return man almost shits the bed again.

Sorry, hope you can maintain some composure through this one. Not looking good thus far.
Eli isn't the only problem, but he's definitely part of it.
yea clearly our problem...nobody getting open downfield. all dumps
go for it Shurmur. This offense sucks.
Do you not understand they are flooding the zones and getting a helluva a pass rush with 4 guys? The only thing open is the dump off
Yup.
go for it Shurmur. This offense sucks.
Sterling Shepard is just a guy. I've never understood the hype with him.
EE though has some potential but he's been disappointing.
Smith in there with a whiff.
seen that too
It's not ONLY Eli, maybe.
Wow
Horrible, and a holding call.
The young guys like Shepard and Engram aren't taking the next step forward yet and the new guys this group brought in aren't even making a difference at all. Not a positive one, at least.
Agree 100%. It hasn't been fun since McAdoo was the head coach. Even when they went to the playoffs they weren't much fun to watch
This. Brutal.
All those plays and we barely got to midfield.
he should've done it the first time instead of punting
Can't anyone catch something for 10 yards?
Eli happy feet.
Cant throw a ball past the sticks.
Rinse/Repeat
LOL!
Do not let this clown back in game
The offense is still weak, but I seem them starting to find their footing. Don't give up. It's only 10-nothing. In today's NFL that's not a big lead, even against the Giants.
Time to show up on the field!
which play makers? The WRs do not have time to get open before the rush reaches Eli.
we're not scoring 30 this month... total
Actually wasnt, but wouldnt have mattered even if he caught it.

I agree with you
Can't anyone catch something for 10 yards?
You need more time to throw ten yards
He has Eli's number. No fear in bringing blitzes
Im a fucking idiot.
Got this shitty defense looking like the 85 Bears
a little more time, he hits that....
It will take a miracle for the talent on this team to reach championship level in the time Manning has left.
Need to create a turnover here.
Quote:
Bad read by Eli.
a little more time, he hits that....
It's the NFL. Eli knows it's a blitz and has to release the ball. Rivers does it every game
Yep. People can say no excuses for Eli this year with his weapons, but it's plain to see the OLine being as bad as can be isn't an excuse. It's our reality.
The defense has tightened up, offense is still crap.
No, that's replay for you, Eli didn't have enough time, by the time you see SS break free the ball was already thrown to OBJ.
Quote:
Ill keep posting

its great that we have a 70 year old guy who doesn't believe in analytics running the team.

Eli is like a stone back there
Scared? I thought it was more like wtf? Who fucked that one up?
Yeah but they have thrown 20 fucking dump offs for no gain!
no. no its not.
Not getting their ass kicked by Jacksonville was no indication of this being a good team.
Yes
Its been a few years I think.
put OBJ back...need a spark
Or, a cardboard cutout of a player waving the fair catch signal, at least the cutout won't fumble.
or the worst OL
Run game
I can go on and on.
Lol
Shurmur is the dumbass that keeps him in there
Hahaha!
He needs to read some of this himself and change protections

Could certainly be replaced by a more useful player, no?

Yeah, that's smart. Sign the guy to a huge contract then put him back there to be a tackling dummy

I don't know about you but I'm willing to find out.
Another reason you dont take a RB over a franchise QB. What is Barkley doing for us right now?
The blocking has been bad, sure, but Eli is playing like a good damn rookie at the moment. He's checked down on virtually every throw even when given time. The play calling and personnel decisions have also been terrible, but you can't put this all on outside reasons (so far) tonight.
I honestly thought he had more in the tank, but it doesn't look promising. I hope I'm wrong and just over reacting, and I can tell myself to STFU by the end of the game.
Agree, he may have no faith they can get push up front.

Absolutely and if Beckham beats you just PI him just like Jax.
Not attempting to run. Makes a DC job easy
Right, it's not like we're moving the ball at will.
TC would've ran and ran and ran some more until we got it going. McAdoo, and apparently, Shurmer are on some new age philosophy
It is amazing how good the Cowboys D became!
They havent even targeting Shep
Thoughts Dep?
That has been a huge issue, we are just not efficient enough to sustain drives for years
LOL
Agree
Barkley has 8 passes already?
The Dallas D is to blitz and thereby force dump offs to Barkley.
Awful.
It doesn't matter who the QB is, who the RB is, etc.
His eyes.
That play was a microcosm of first half
Quote:
Is the damn problem. Establish the damn run to take pressure off of Eli and open up the passing game.

Funny we were told he stuck to the run no matter what with the Vikes. Hes allowed himself to get caught up in the emotion of the game now. This is why i dont like HCs to call the plays
Gotta make that catch.
Have to catch that with your hands not against chest. Fight for the dam ball!
He's David Carr.
These other guys need to step up.
It doesn't matter who the QB is, who the RB is, etc.
Yep! We can't get an momentum or sustain a drive. Everything gets blown up.
Barkley has 8 passes already?
And I dont think any are on Flowers yet? Nice of them to share the fuckups
No one can do anything right. I'm surprised they don't just go jump in a hole.
Quickly will be a lost season if they don't get it together
C'mon dep ... look at the bright side. Could have been 5.

OL isn't picking up blitzes, which is creating free rushers against a QB who can't run.

I know that's not really his way but come on
How can you tell with this horrible offensive line?

in april
OL, OL, OL, CB
I thought they made good ones last week, so lets hope
Yes dynamic explosive offense..with god at rb
Quickly will be a lost season if they don't get it together
4 new OL. And its the same. Flowers has actually been the best today. Go figure. lol
Geese.
Yea. He just can't do "it" anymore.
This. Ive never admitted it until now. Hes afraid. Needs to hang it up.
Hes done..hes shell shocked
change the OL to who?
huh? Gettleman signed 80% of this roster!
Go brag somewhere else.
They are so fucking boring to watch.
Flowers and Omameh look like high-schoolers out there, but Eli needs to be able to find open receivers when a blitz is on and other than that is lack of mobility is killing us (although that's not something he can help at this point).
Pugh was fine, paying them was another issue but in any event the thought that our OL got better was always the argument i had trouble buying
We still have a chance here.
Not much of a chance.
But a chance.
Its exploding alright!
Third, they need a turnover. Could get one. A defensive score would help too.
Fourth, don't give up.
So hard watching this team. Last 5 + years we are 36 and 45.
Lets see if we can change it up in the 2nd half.
Holding Dallas to 10 ain't bad.
I get you cant fix everything in 1 offseason but holy shit
There are a lot of Non-NFL players starting on our team.
In fairness, it is explosive, just of the diarrhea variety.
The bad news, of course, is Im not sure we can...
Yes, the OL is not doing well. But imagine we had a mobile, elusive qb? They know they can tee off and Eli will shit his pants and get the deer in the headlights look.
We need a new qb.
Yes they were. Just be the replacements are trash too doesn't mean they should have been re-signed to big FA contracts.
Bout sums it up.
Brady lost his Pro Bowl LT Solder and hasn't missed a beat. He punishes the blitz regardless of protection.

I dont think i remember what a clean pocket looks like when we are on offense
Guy is awful
I think this offense is demoralized, I remember a time when there was a belief that somehow Manning would find a way......
They are blitzing and he can't take advantage even 1 time?
What happened to you live by the blitz and die by the blitz
Its almost unbelievable how little time there is.
really? no mention of it anywhere besides you
Its not just the OL. Its the QB.
According to some here yes. I'd love to see any QB be good in this mess. He has no time to do anything but check down
Looks like Eli is done. 4 win team. OL IS STILL SHIT
It is? really? according to who?
Counting his money.

I'll say yes. 75% of QBs in the NFL can move away from pressure and still look down field. Eli gets paid more than 75% of NFL QBs. It's a bad correlation

Obscured by the sacks is lack of production from Shep, Latimer and the other wrs behind Beck's.

Just wow at this point.
Playing scared...and bad.
You have to make them pay when they blitz like that by getting the ball downfield to Odell and Co
But Shurmur does not have them running deep patterns. Today's coaching--beginning with defering--ranks so far as one of the worst in Giants history.
Let's see if he can make any adjustments at halftime

This is why its time to move on from Eli. There are 5-7 drop backs every game where a QB is going to have to buy themselves extra time on their own. Eli cant. Hes a sitting duck.
While that is true other QBs will often have some where to step up into, Eli never has that, the interior line is always getting pushed back into his face and he doesnt have the ability to get outside.

I'll say yes. 75% of QBs in the NFL can move away from pressure and still look down field. Eli gets paid more than 75% of NFL QBs. It's a bad correlation
So its a QB job to avoid unblocked defenders that get through in less than 2 seconds?
Just wow at this point.
youre all out of your minds if you think other QBS get away from this pressure. outside of maybe one time, the shit is relentless and on him before he can get to his second read....its horrible
Excuses excuses excuses
not at all mick. its a jailbreak...that SIMPLE stunt could be picked up by a high school team.
You obviously arent watching the game. Hes been their best OL today.
I get you cant fix everything in 1 offseason but holy shit
There are a lot of Non-NFL players starting on our team.
So why does Manning pass on almost every first down?
Aren't they supposed to pound Barkley at the other defense and then take easy play action shots down the field?
They're pounding Barkley and it's not working.
eli is rushed EVERY play. seriously, simple stunts, corner blitzes, it all works against us

Barkley only had 3 carries that half, not really the definition of pounding the rock.
Eli is shellshocked. He was promised a better OL, but it didn't happen. DG thought the pieces he added to the OL would be enough to protect Eli, especially with the threat of a stud RB. It appears that he may have been wrong.

BBI just saying shit to say shit.
Weve seen this before vs Dallas.
Eli is shellshocked. He was promised a better OL, but it didn't happen. DG thought the pieces he added to the OL would be enough to protect Eli, especially with the threat of a stud RB. It appears that he may have been wrong.

Flowers and Omameh can't handle a simple stunt. We might as well have Hart back if we're going to allow stunts to hit home.

Exactly. This organization is completely directionless and was hoping that Eli could lead them to the promised land one more time. There is no plan.
Darnold looked like an average QB today, and Mayfield has yet to play. None of these QBs would help us win today. The best choice was re-signing Geno so we would have a backup option this season in case Eli stinks it up.
EE looks like he's really hurting.
Nice throw by Eli, but that 14 yard gain is our longest of the game. Followed by an incompletion.
Yup
The sack/fumble was on the OL, but Eli looks shot tonight

The front office was in win now mode in the off-season which will never make any sense to me. Unless they get lucky in the next couple off-seasons it's going to be a decision that costs a lot of people jobs.
Eli has something left physically but mentally he is shot behind this line. Hard to blame him the way they've played for so long
he is not reading the blitz. line sucks too but he's supposed to be in charge.
There is simply not enough to rebuild with him as QB.
This season is gonna be hard to take again.
There's still time to correct some things and break a couple plays

Maybe on the slot blitzes and t/e stunts but it's not on the coaches when Hernandez completely whiffs on his guy causing a strip sack.
What do you want to do next...what is next play guys?
Have we attempted a thrown downfield? How about a screen to slow down the rush? How about a few quick outs to OBJ on the sideline? How about a mismatch of Engram on a LB? What about splitting SB out wide?
anything?

He was open for about half a second when he cut inside. It's a risky throw, but Mahomes made the exact same throw earlier today. To be fair to Eli he'd already pulled it down by that point.

LOL. Please NcAdoo. We will take back all our criticism. We could not have dreamt that our offense would get even worse. Six net points last week, and 0 net points this week.
Lol, yeah ok
This is what virtually everyone who wanted a QB in the draft was afraid of. It wasn't hard to guess Manning would return, but hard to think anyone thought it was a good idea.

I've been saying for awhile now that this offensive line is the NFL's worst. It still is.
Not seeing much from him. Goes down way to easily
But who could blame Eli at this stage?
He's beyond shell shock
I watched Matt Stafford today and he's next on the shell shock.
uh oh, you don't want to say that...FMiC and his butt buddy UCONN will rip you a new one
Hes not the backup. Its friggin Alex Tanney lol
That is because he is past his prime .... it has nothing to do with the OL.

Whats even more pathetic was the explanation DG used, one quarter of one game game against a defense that had already packed it in for the game. Very difficult to understand.

Injury Update: CB Eli Apple (groin) is out for the remainder of the game. #NYGvsDAL
but he couldn't put him back there vs the Jags?
This is what virtually everyone who wanted a QB in the draft was afraid of. It wasn't hard to guess Manning would return, but hard to think anyone thought it was a good idea.
+1. For some reason, people thought adding mediocre OLs was going to take a lousy OL blocking for an immobile QB and produce good results. They needed a reboot that was going to take longer than Eli would last.
Imagine if he had an O-Line to run behind like Zeke
Who cares? This all goes to show you the limited effect an all world running back has on a modern NFL offense without competent qb and oline play.
Seriously, how does he have no idea how much time is left in the half or quarter? Weird.
Fucking sickening.
If so, what happened?
Grab me an interior lineman and some creative play calling. It's in the dairy section.
Also agree.

Saquon has been BY FAR our best offensive player tonight. He's the only guy who looks competent and like he gives a damn.

Or it goes to show you that no single player is going to change the ineptitude of this offense.
But it's not in 11 personnel, so it's cool
Imagine if he had an O-Line to run behind like Zeke
Our offense looks like hot garbage, you need to set the bar a little higher for a guy drafted second overall.
I get that Elliot has the OL advantage but he's basically a one man show. Barkley at least has other weapons to accompany him.
I assume they thought theyd catch the Cowboys in a blitz. But they didnt blitz.
Cowboys have been a step ahead all night
they were doing a lot of that last week... but strangely, hardly any tonight.

You're kidding, right? I'm sorry that Saquon doesn't have wings and can't fly into the end zone. I'm not exactly sure what more you could ask of him.

I agree they want it more. But why do you say they need it more?
I resent management for bringing him back for this, honestly.
There was way too much wanting to prove he wasn't the problem by the fans and the team.
And maybe he isn't -- but you'll never know because he's getting beat like a pinata.
This can't be satisfying for everyone who wanted him back, is it?
The Cowboys may suck, but the Giants are a dumpster fire
Yup I agree.

sad and true. This sucks
Sad but I was honestly thinking the same thing
Shurmur is using McAdoos diner menu of plays. He is trying to establish the run. That is more important than scoring points.
However we hired a retread Coach and an in-house GM...why the living fuck should we expect otherwise?

I agree they want it more. But why do you say they need it more?
The loss to CAR in the conference is more costly than a loss to JAX.
Also, everybody knows the Giants...have room for improvement, but Dallas needs to prove they are playoff quality.
Agreed. He pretty much needs a perfect OL, which we certainly don't have. Even on plays where he has time, his throws are often inaccurate.
But he's been like this for pretty much his entire career. He's very mechanical. If he needs to improvise, he's lost. The ironic thing is the most famous improvised play in NFL history was started by Eli (the Tyree SB catch).
Bizarrely so. It was a poor free agency class (it always is for oline), and we put one draft pick into it despite their being a lot of decent interior lineman in the 3rd.
True colors
Thanks for letting us know
Unreal
Because he has guys to protect him

Gotcha
Well at least we have a generational RB lol
That tends to happen against the Giants
I've been saying it all week. He might still suck. Either way, I'm alarmed for the Giants secondary.

Hes physically and as far as a playbook is concerned a diminished QB. His mental processes are being rushed and he knows he cant make the same throws he used to. The offense has become limited.
We have 0 points in this game with Darnold.
Because you then have to take away Barkley.
He does suck, dont you see thats what makes this even sadder?
Lol.
He's shit. We're just worse.
And his OL blocked their guys something we havent seen all year.
He looks great? LOL hes made one nice throw
Hate him.

Nick Bosa might be in our crosshairs by fucking Columbus Day.

Jerry Reese always reached for OL when he shouldn't and didn't take them when he should.
beat by Dak mentally first and physically there on this drive.
And that is it, wow bottom feeders again this season
And then they just get marched on to seal it.
Dallas held to 13 points well into the 4th quarter. Giants defense did its job today.

Elis still awesome. Obviously OT.
gettleman should not get another draft. he is a dinosaur and needs to go.

April 25th thru 27th in Nashville.
LOL. Now we know why they cut Webb. Fans would be clamoring for a QB change if we had anyone credible at all.
I don't understand how a professional athlete is that immobile.
What are you going on about? What about tonight's shitshow do you think is being blown out of proportion here? This team has basically stunk since hurricane Sandy, barring one season, and that includes Eli's play across different OLs.

It's not a big deal that the team has sucked for years, or that they just blew a game to a team that's likely to be .500 at Best in a completely uncompetitive manner?

First game of the year with a new coach. No film on what Shurmur/Bettcher would do.
2nd game, the league has figured them out.

I dont trust QBs from that Air Raid shit. Mahomes looks good. But I dont trust it
But it is in fact an awful team and two undeniable truths 1) Manning is getting his skull kicked in and 2) the offense is incapable of anything.
Go ahead and take the satisfaction it isn't Manning's fault if that makes you feel better. But how in the world is him kicking beaten like a drum at 37 good for this team's future?

Holy shit you and the other guy in this thread should give each other hand jobs next week instead of watching the game.
Hey Ben. This is John Mara. Just want to say....god damn it, Eli!....umm, excuse me...sorry about last year and how things went down. Tell everyone I said hello.
Surgeon strik. 6 fuqing sacks :(
If they had 5-6 solid games and then a game like this maybe he could have shaken it off but, .... it is going to be a long season.
